ELECT

Leslie E. Schneider

Commonwealth’s Attorney, Charlotte County, VA

Hello Charlotte County Residents,

I am Leslie E. Schneider, honored to serve as your Commonwealth’s Attorney, dedicated to justice and public service. I have over two decades of experience as an attorney in public service, including more than six years prosecuting criminal cases here in Charlotte County.

In Charlotte County, I have worked as your:

Regional Drug Prosecutor: Served as Special Counsel to the Multi-Jurisdictional Grand Jury and prosecuted narcotic and related offenses for two different Task Forces one being Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force. (Employed: July 2008 – November 2010).

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney: I prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases in all three courts with a focus on narcotic offenses, sexual based offenses, and violent felonies. (Employed: January 2021 – December 2024).

Commonwealth’s Attorney: In December 2024, upon the retirement of Bill Green, I was honored to be appointed as Commonwealth’s Attorney by court order effective January 1, 2025. Since then, I have continued serving Charlotte County with dedication.

My legal experience ‘outside’ of Charlotte County includes:

Defense attorney: I worked for the Public Defender’s Office/Indigent Defense Commission in both Mecklenburg and Lunenburg Counties for six+ years.

International experience: Driven by the belief that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’ (Luke 12:48), I leveraged my legal expertise internationally to champion justice and protect vulnerable communities.

I first worked with the Justice Sector Support Project and later with the International Development Law Organization, focusing primarily on Afghanistan’s most vulnerable population—women. My role involved training and mentoring judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and police within Afghanistan’s Criminal Justice Sector to strengthen their ability to deliver justice.

In Viet Nam, I worked for HAGAR International, a Christian-based organization, providing leadership and overseeing program activities and management of a 16-bed Transitional House for survivors of human trafficking.

My experience over the years has taught me that without accountability, vulnerable populations are victimized, property rights disrespected, and chaos reigns. Civilized society requires deference to the rule of law.

I respectfully request your VOTE on November 4, 2025, to serve as your Elected Commonwealth’s Attorney — to continue ensuring justice, accountability, and victim centered prosecutions.

 Kind regards,

Leslie E. Schneider

“As an Army BRAT, home was never a physical place; home was wherever the people you love were.  That changed when I moved to Charlotte County, Virginia with my late husband and Charlotte County native, Mike Jones.  We did not just purchase a house in 2001; we created our home and joined a community where our sons continue to thrive.  Both Mike and I have the utmost respect for Bill Green, who served Charlotte County with honor and dedication, and hired Leslie Schneider as part of his team.  Leslie has been serving our community for many years and has demonstrated her integrity, tenacity and strong work ethics on a daily basis. Her resume is unparalleled and commitment to justice is unwavering, and both personify who she is at her core.  Please join me in Supporting Leslie E. Schneider as our next Commonwealth’s Attorney.”

WFXR by Thad Randazzo - posted Aug 8, 2024; updated Aug 8, 2024 - Wfxrtv.com: Drug Dealer sentenced to two decades for distributing narcotics in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va (WFXR) – The Charlotte County Seriff’s Office says a person has been sentenced to two decades in prison for selling narcotics in the Charlotte County area.

According to the sheriff, 42-year-old Kristin McWayne Green of Lunenburg pled guilty to nine counts of Distribution of Cocaine and Fentanyl after an investigation by the Tr-County Drug and Gang Task Force… Greene admitted to selling $10,800 worth of narcotics within 5 weeks during controlled purchases….”During two of the controlled narcotics buys, the defendant distributed pills which had the visual appearance consistent with the pharmaceutical preparation for Oxycodone; however, when tested the pills contained Fentanyl,” said Charlotte County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Leslie E. Schneider

“This entire case and subsequent guilty pleas were the direct result of the exceptional investigative efforts by the Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force and supporting local and state departments,” Schneider said. “Further, this case serves as a powerful demonstration of how Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force and the Charlotte County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will work together to bring drug dealers to justice and justice to victim’s families.”

WSET ABC 13 by Ezra Hercyk – wset.com - May 8th, 2024: Charlotte County pair sentenced to nearly two centuries of prison for deadly overdose.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va (WSET) – Two Charlotte County residents were recently sentenced to a total of 194 years of prison time for their roles in the 2020 deadly overdose of a Virginia Beach man… In an investigation by the Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force in partnership with the Charlotte County Seriff’s Office, 51-year-old Dianna Connelly and 40-year-old Jacob Boyer were identified as the suppliers of the narcotic that was sold to Overcash and caused his death.

… “This narcotic investigation, prosecution and subsequent sentencings were unique because the character of the controlled substance was established by statements made by both co-defendants, corroboration of text messages between the primary distributor (Connelly) and Overcash, and the decedent’s autopsy toxicology report said Charlotte Country Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Leslie E. Schneider.  “Normally in narcotics cases, the controlled substance is submitted to the Department of Forensic Science for analysis.  In this case, the crime scene had been cleaned of any controlled substances.  Also unique to this case was the establishment of the offense timeline by use of Boyer’s delivery confirmation to Connelly, the 911 call record by the descendant’s girlfriend, and the Medical Examiner’s Report….
