To my friends, neighbors and fellow citizens of Charlotte County,
First let me say it was a pleasure and my honor to have served you as your Commonwealth’s Attorney for more than 25 years. I retired from that position December 31, 2024, and I want to sincerely express my appreciation to you for your support.
Now, I want to ask that you join me in supporting my former assistant and our current Commonwealth’s Attorney, Leslie E. Schneider, as she seeks to become your elected Commonwealth’s Attorney in the special election to be held November 4, 2025.
I have known and worked with Leslie since she began to serve as our Regional Drug Prosecutor and thereby as a Special Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for Charlotte County in 2008. This position followed a number of years of public service in the Public Defender’s Office, serving in two of our neighboring counties. Leslie also served for a period of time as a volunteer assistant in my office before turning her considerable talents toward positions in North Vietnam and Afghanistan. There she continued to pursue her calling to promote and defend the rights of victims of crime and injustice, including the rights of women and children who were victims of human trafficking in North Vietnam.
Leslie returned to the United States in 2020 and to southside Virginia in 2021. I was fortunate to be able to hire her in 2021 as my full-time assistant, where she brought her long and strongly held beliefs in justice and the rule of law. These beliefs she has put into practice for the citizens of Charlotte County whom she has served since her return in January 2021. She is truly devoted to the citizens she serves. Her work ethic is nothing short of amazing. She works tirelessly to seek justice for the victims she serves and for the community as a whole. Because of that tireless pursuit she has obtained severe penalties for many serious offenders particularly those who would prey on our children and elderly, those who sell the poisons of Fentanyl, Heroin and the like, and those who commit physical and sexual assaults in our community. I truly feel that due to her desire for justice and accountability and her willingness always to go the extra mile, she has earned the respect of the fine men and women of law enforcement with whom she works. She certainly respects them and the difficult and dangerous work they do.
I fully endorse and support Leslie E. Schneider as my candidate to be our next Commonwealth’s Attorney. I know Leslie! I know her training! I know her work ethic! And above all, I know her devotion to duty and the citizens I have watched her serve. Please join me in supporting and casting your vote for Leslie E. Schneider for Commonwealth’s Attorney on November 4, 2025, so she can continue the fine job she is already doing for us.
Thank you.
William E. Green, Jr., Charlotte County Commonwealth’s Attorney (1999-2024)
